Property, planning and construction - Case Study
Client - Arrowcroft
Arrowcroft Group Plc is a major UK property developer and has been behind some of the largest mixed use regeneration schemes in the UK. In 2000 Arrowcroft acquired a site of strategic importance adjacent to East Croydon station. A joint venture was agreed with Croydon Council to develop the site for an arena which could host major London events as well as housing and office development.
Cavendish was called in after the London Borough Elections to rescue the project from a change in Council control from Labour to Conservative which jeopardised the project's future. Working closely together with the developer Cavendish successfully arranged a number of events to boost the scheme's profile to the newly elected Conservative leadership of Croydon Council and the wider business stakeholder community. This included themed events in support of the scheme with leading Conservative politicians as well as developing a strong local lobby of support from leading personalities in and around Croydon.
The upshot of this ground swell of political support was that new Conservative leadership of Croydon Council agreed to grant a Compulsory Purchase Order with the developer to enable the development to take place.
