Skills - Case Study

Client - Creative & Cultural Skills

Creative & Cultural Skills (CCSkills) is the sector skills council for the creative and cultural industries. CCSkills also wholly owns the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural Skills (network of creative and cultural employers and organisations, training providers and industry trade associations with 20 founder colleges in every English region).

Cavendish were appointed by CCSkills in May 2009 to help secure funding from BIS / Learning and Skills Council for the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural Skills (NSA) training hub in Thurrock (following the LSC funding crisis in Spring 2009).

As a result of our intensive and targeted public affairs programme, CCSkills has secured funding from the Learning and Skills Council for the National Skills Academy for Creative & Cultural training hub in Thurrock. The final part of the funding package is expected to be announced shortly. We have also been able to secure Prime Ministerial support for the Academy; and involvement in the launch event (January 2010) and funding announcements.

Our work to support the CCSkills Future Jobs Fund bid resulted in the DWP making a key “community requirement” concession in the bid criteria to enable future bids from the creative and cultural sector to be accepted by the Department.

The NSA profile-building work stream is ongoing and we are developing a strong coalition of support for the Academy inside Parliament.
